Sandwell Council are hosting Growing Green 2012 on the 21st and 22nd March 2012 and this year we are including an international visitor programme to the event.
Growing Green 2012 will be a meeting of innovative minds, bringing together designers, engineers and procurement officers to strengthen links in our local supply chain and get people inter-trading more than ever.
There will be a networking 'marketplace' where manufacturers can showcase their products and highlight the expertise available right here in the West Midlands. Specifiers, architects and buyers will be able to browse those products and discover innovative solutions to help them fulfil their designs.
The Growing Green Marketplace will have four separate zones:
- Renewable Energy and Waste Management
- Building and Construction
- Automotive, Transport and Logistics
We're working with colleagues from UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) to invite overseas specifiers and buyers over to Growing Green 2012, so you can meet them face to face in a quiet lounge area, the "Hosted Buyers Lounge". These will all be people who are genuinely interested in green innovations, and genuinely interested in working with West Midlands companies.
On day 2 of Growing Green 2012, we are running a programme of factory tours, so that overseas buyers can see exactly what the West Midlands supply chain has to offer.
Growing Green 2012 won't just be a one-off celebration of the region's green industries, but the start of bigger things to come. To get the movers and shakers (including Black Country Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) chiefs, overseas and UK buyers, council chiefs, regeneration partners and high-profile business people) putting their heads together in order to foster international trade, business growth and improved support for the Black Country and City Region, we'll be hosting over 100 people at an evening event where they can network in a prestigious yet relaxed setting.
The evening will be subsidised by sponsorship so the cost to attend (including a three-course dinner) will be just £25 plus VAT per head. This will secure you a place on a table with one of our overseas buyers, so it's well worth signing up. The dinner will be FREE to any International Buyers attending and participating at our Hosted Buyers Lounge during Day 1 of Growing Green 2012 .
In 2010, Growing Green attracted more than 600 visitors, in 2011 we had more than 1000 attend. This year, 2012, we expect to smash that record and welcome more than 1500 guests to see the products, components and sustainable solutions made in the West Midlands region. We're keen to make this a global event that will give global exposure for our brilliant business community and we will be also aiming to nurture inward investment to boost our local economy.
