Keystone Law, the UK’s leading dispersed law firm, announced its first international expansion with a new Guernsey office. The office will be led by John Stephens, who joins from Spicer and Partners Guernsey LLP, and will focus on providing Guernsey based clients with inward investment advice across all of Keystone Law’s practice areas.
International expansion is the next stage of Keystone’s growth strategy, following on from a successful campaign to recruit 50 new lawyers from top tier law firms as part of its ‘Join the Future’ campaign. Keystone now boasts over 130 highly experienced consultant solicitors working in teams across 11 practice areas. The Keystone model uses state-of-the-art technology to allow lawyers to work seamlessly across the UK, and now, internationally.
Managing partner, James Knight, says: “Our new Guernsey office marks the start of our move towards international expansion and our sights are set further afield for the launch of the next international office. It is an exciting step to open up an office in Guernsey and to be able to offer offshore clients the expertise of our lawyers across all areas of law.
John’s expertise in commercial property and investment mean he is perfectly placed to head up our Guernsey office. Now, more than ever, Keystone is able to meet the needs of offshore clients looking to invest in, develop or lend against UK property.”
Prior to joining Keystone John Stephens was a Partner at Spicer and Partners Guernsey LLP, having previously worked in the property departments of major City firms such as Simmons & Simmons. John has particular expertise in inward investment to the UK, secured lending on UK assets and offshore commercial lending in deals ranging from £1m to £240m. John also advises on sustainability and renewable energy issues for the regulatory and due diligence aspects of energy efficiency and carbon reduction obligations. His expertise is particularly relevant to the Guernsey market, which has a strong appetite for inward investment in the UK and energy issues related to commercial property.
